Summary

Family secrets can be the most dangerous of all。 When Carly Tucker’s police-officer husband is killed during a home break-in, she knows that her side hustle finding the antique treasures at flea markets isn’t enough to support her and their infant son, Noah。 So her grandmother’s proposal to have her and her two sisters restore the family’s waterfront Beaufort home into a bed-and-breakfast--that Carly will run--is immediately intriguing。 But it’s equally daunting with the animosity that exists between the three sisters。 What Carly never expected as she begins to go through the attic was to find a letter in a trunk, written in her husband’s handwriting 。 。 。 dated two days before his death。 Eric had discovered that Carly’s grandmother was adopted--a fact Carly is certain Gram is not aware of--and had already begun trying to track down her birth family。 Is it possible that Eric’s death wasn’t random after all? With few options, Carly reaches out to Gram’s neighbor Simon—and the older brother of her high school sweetheart--who is a local homicide detective。 One of the items in the trunk is an enameled egg。 If it truly is a Faberge egg, the value could set Carly up for life 。 。 。 and would certainly be worth killing for。 The journey to find the truth and protect her family will have Carly delving deep into the lost treasures of Eastern Europe--if she and Simon can survive that long。

When I pick up a book by Colleen Coble, I know without a doubt that I am in for a story that will keep me on the edge of my seat。。。 and Fragile Designs is absolutely no exception! Right from the start, I was drawn into this story。 I didn't know much about Fabergé eggs before reading this book, but I thought it was a really unique aspect to this story and definitely kept me intrigued。 Throw in a good dose of family secrets and drama, suspense and of course the romance and I couldn't help but enjoy this story。 There were lots of twists and turns to keep me guessing。 The romance was sweet and slow, taking more of a backseat to the suspense, while still making the romance fan in me happy。 The family dynamics were messy and oh, so very complicated。 With so much going on in the story, it would have been easy for it all to be too much。。。 but as always, the author blended it all wonderfully to create a story I really enjoyed。 Colleen Coble is one of my very favorite Christian suspense authors and this story is a great example as to why that is。 If you enjoy a good romantic suspense, this is absolutely one not to be missed。 **I received a complimentary copy for consideration。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more

*sigh*。 Listen, I LOVE crazy thrillers with unbelievable plots and premises, but this book was。。。I'll say it。 It was just dumb。 The writing was very poor, the characters were grinding, the romance was dull, the thriller aspect was boring as hell。 I wish I could give a better review since I got this book for free as an ARC, but frankly, I want compensation for the time I wasted。This was also not marketed as Christian Fiction on NetGalley and I didn't see that until looking on Goodreads after read *sigh*。 Listen, I LOVE crazy thrillers with unbelievable plots and premises, but this book was。。。I'll say it。 It was just dumb。 The writing was very poor, the characters were grinding, the romance was dull, the thriller aspect was boring as hell。 I wish I could give a better review since I got this book for free as an ARC, but frankly, I want compensation for the time I wasted。This was also not marketed as Christian Fiction on NetGalley and I didn't see that until looking on Goodreads after reading, but I feel like that might explain a lot of why I hated it so much。 I grew up religious, I've read a lot of Christian Fiction, NONE of it is any good。Anyway, sorry guys。 I cannot in good faith recommend this to anybody。 。。。more

Fragile Designs pulled me into the story in the first chapter。 I immediately felt for Carly and her situation。 The other characters are also introduced through the natural flow of the plot。 ! Fragile Design is a classic Colleen Coble, in all the best ways。 The suspense part of the book is a total page turner。 It leads the story at a quick pace, and made me want to know what was coming next。 While I did figure out a couple parts of the suspense story, there were still quite a few surprises throughout the book。 The underlying love story was sweet。 As the characters got to know each other, they saw the true person and personality underneath the outward exterior。 For me, I loved the them Fragile Design is a classic Colleen Coble, in all the best ways。 The suspense part of the book is a total page turner。 It leads the story at a quick pace, and made me want to know what was coming next。 While I did figure out a couple parts of the suspense story, there were still quite a few surprises throughout the book。 The underlying love story was sweet。 As the characters got to know each other, they saw the true person and personality underneath the outward exterior。 For me, I loved the theme of living in God's grace, and accepting that bad things that happen are not punishment from God。 He is not waiting to take something away from us because we didn't live up to expectations。 The character development is great, and I learned more about the personal stories of the lead characters throughout the whole book。 It wasn't just all dumped on me right at the beginning。 I highly recommend Fragile Design! All of Ms。 Coble’s novels have been well written but this one tops them all! I was so engaged I finished it in one day! I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it! 。。。more
